(Kansas City, Kansas) The annual Janet Billings Memorial takes place Friday at Lakeside Speedway with an increased purse awaiting Pure Stock drivers. A-Mods, B-Mods, Stock Cars, and E-Mods also join the action in a full night of racing featuring preliminary heat races and main events in all divisions. The event is held in honor of Janet Billings, whose life was tragically cut short in December of 2014.

Lakeside Speedway General Manager Pete Howey stated, “The Pure Stock purse comes from the generosity of contributors by the hard work of the Billings family in honor of their loved one. Last year, each driver received an additional $282 for their finish. This year, on top of the additional money collected by the Billings family, Lakeside Speedway will add $500 to the overall payout if 18 to 23 cars compete.” Howey added, “If we have 24 or more cars, the speedway will boost the purse by an additional $1,000.”

So far this season in 14 Pure Stock events, Don Marrs and Spencer Reiff have four wins apiece, but it was multi-time champion Marshall Jewett, who claimed the 2021 Track Championship Title with three victories. Garry Billings, Jr., Dennie Belknap, and Mike Ryun also claimed Pure Stock wins throughout the year. Note, mention of driver name does not guarantee race appearance.

Friday also marks the end of the points-earning season for the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series. Heading down the stretch, several local racers are sitting at or near the top of the standings including Terry Schultz in B-Mods, Casey Shields in Stock Cars, Spencer Reiff, in Pure Stocks, and Gunner Martin in A-Mods.

The Friday timeline is as follows: Pit gate opens at 5 p.m. followed by grandstand admissions at 6 p.m. Driver pill draw closes at 6:45 followed by the pit meeting at 7, practice hot laps at 7:15, and racing to follow.

Friday ticketing: General Admission: Adults (16+) $15, Seniors/Military $12, Juniors (12-15) $5, Under 12 Free. Suites: Adults (13+) $20, Kids (2-12) $10, Under 2 Free. Terrace: Adults (16+) $15, Seniors and Military $12, Juniors (12-15) $5, Under 12 Free. For Suite and Terrace availability call (913) 299-9206.
