Friday night, June 24th, at Lakeside Speedway the chase for the championship continues as it will be Planet Marrs Recycling Night at the Races!

It will be another week of watching the USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B Mods, Grand Nationals, Factory Stocks and an appearance by the Show Me Vintage Racing Series.

Last week was a great night to be Aaron Marrant. Marrant raced his way to 2 victories last Friday night at Lakeside Speedway. Marrant’s wins came in the ULMA Late Models and the USRA Modifieds. Brett Heeter pulled off another win the USRA Stock Cars. Kevin Anderson, 2nd in points to Marrant, took a tumble on the front stretch and is working hard to get back into the game. The USRA B Mod went to JC Morton for he 2nd time this year and it appeared to be an easy win. Marshall Jewett landed in victory lane last week in the Factory Stock division.

This week the racing action will get even better on the speedway.

Currently in the USRA Modified division, Kerry Davis, is the points leader. Davis has a 35 point cushion on the 2nd place driver, Mark Schafman. Don’t be surprised if you see another new face jump up and battle for the win on Friday night. Davis is coming off a sub par week after he finished 5th, if you can call that sub par. Several top name drivers will be returning this week that should make the features even that much better. Davis leads the points battle to this point. Mark Schafman is currently 2nd, 35 points behind.

For the last 4 years Brett Heeter has dominated the Stock Car division at Lakeside and 2016 has been yet another strong year for Heeter. Last week he rolled to another win and he has a 39 point lead in the standings. Kevin Anderson took a hard crash last week and it will be interesting to see if he can continue. If not Heeter might be looking at a 5th straight title.

It was the 2nd visit for JC Morton last week and it was also his 2nd win. Morton might want to think about making Lakeside Speedway his home track with a winning percentage like that. Chad Clancy and Steven Clancy are 1 and 2 in the points battle at this stage of the game. The B Mods are always a fun class to watch and the turnout each week is one of the best in the Midwest. This week the action should continue.

The Grand Nationals were off last week but they will be back with all the excitement that one can expect to see. Will they have a new face in victory lane or will Nick Newton and Tim Shields continue their grudge match with each other? Newton has been strong all season long in the Grand Nationals and his 31 point lead over Shields is proof.

Jason Ryun is the king of the new Factory Stock division at Lakeside. Ryun has several wins on the season and he is sitting on top of the standings by a whopping 73 points. New faces are starting to show up each and every week in this class. It proves that people are interested in what this class will become in the future. No matter what it is, it’s a fun class already.
