Also on the docket for Friday night’s races will be the USRA Stock Cars and USRA B Mods!

Another special, added addition to this race is that it will feature a ‘Salute to Military Night’ presented by Budweiser that will feature all military personnel getting in to witness the spectacle for just $10, and all fans can enjoy beer specials all night long.

Last Week’s Recap…

Last week Nic Bidinger, the reigning 2x champ, regained his form and held off Darron Fuqua and Kerry Davis to pick up his 2nd win of the season in the USRA Modifieds. Chase Austin proved that his win 2 weeks ago wasn’t a fluke as he covered the field to win his 2nd straight USRA B Mod main event. In the Grand National Feature Nick Newton showed that he has what it takes to finish higher than 2nd. Newton got his 2nd win of the season in the main event last week. Brett Heeter is speeding away to his 3rd straight title as he picked up his 6th win a week ago.

Setting Up This Week’s Races…

USRA Modifieds…

Nic Bidinger picked a good night to regain his form from the past two seasons. Bidinger’s 2nd win comes on the heels of the USMTS making a return to Lakeside Speedway. Bidinger has won a USMTS Feature before and wouldn’t it cap his season if he could get a ‘Hunt’ win in front of his hometown fans!

Kerry Davis still leads the points with just more than a handful of races left. Davis has had one of the best seasons of any Modified driver has had since Lakeside returned to dirt in 2000.

Back on May 1st, Terry Phillips drove to the win in the only other USMTS appearance this season. Phillips has the most USMTS victories at Lakeside Speedway with 4.

Defending USMTS National Champion, Rodney Sanders, comes to Kansas City with the lead in the Hunt standings. Former USMTS Champ, Jason Hughes, and 2015 Rookie of the Year, Jesse Sobbing, are right on his bumper.

The dream of every fan at their local dirt track is to root for one of their locals to take home a win, if not a top 5 finish when the USMTS comes to town. Several of the Lakeside locals will have a shot, the question is can they do it?

USRA Modified Driver To Watch This Week…

Darron Fuqua #87, Mayetta, KS.

Darron Fuqua hasn’t had the season that he wanted to have. He has 1 victory to his credit. One win might make a lot of drivers happy, but not Fuqua. He wants the whole enchilada! So far in 2015 there have been plenty of broken parts and missed opportunities. Engine troubles have been the key to his problems, but after a solid finish last week Fuqua might have the answer. Everyone knows he can drive the wheels of a Modified, but can he overcome all of his adversity in 2015 to finish strong? My guess is yes, that’s why he is our driver to watch this week.

USRA Stock Cars…

Is there any stopping Brett Heeter this season. Sure he doesn’t have the most wins, but 6 isn’t too shabby. Put those wins together with a slew of runner-ups and top 5s, then you have a recipe for a championship. Championships are all familiar to Heeter and don’t be surprised if he just closes it out soon.

Former Grand National Champ, Gary Donaldson, had a strong run in the Stock Car A Main. Donaldson was the Hard Charger of the night going from 16th to 6th in the feature.

Another driver to have a good run last week finishing in 4th was Marshall Jewett. A veteran of many years at Lakeside Speedway could be a spoiler down the line.

It’s a good possibility that with the USMTS in town that the Stock Cars might pick up a few new racers. So far this season fans have seen 42 different racers amass points in this division.

Dean Hensler #8, Weatherby, MO.

Dean Hensler is a tough competitor when it comes to Stock Cars. He has been a long time racer and knows his cars inside and out. Since coming to Lakeside Hensler has put together some good races, but he just can’t break down the door to Victory Lane! He wants to get it done, he is just trying to figure out how to do it. His runner-up finish a week ago has put him in our cross hairs! Look for Mr. Hensler to make some noise this week and improve on last week’s finish. On a night when the USMTS is in town don’t expect it if the USRA Stock Cars put on the show of the night.

USRA B Mods…

Last week’s feature belonged to Austin. There wasn’t much of a challenge at the top spot for win #2. The first win Gene Claxton pushed Austin all the way to the checkered flag.

After picking up 3 wins earlier this season what has happened to Brad Smith? It isn’t like he disappeared, but it is surprising that he hasn’t been seen back in victory lane again.

There was plenty of passing going on last week; Gene Claxton went from 17th to 7th, Chase Galvan drove from 22nd to 11th and Mike Higley started 27th and finished 13th. Whew!

The points championship still runs through Ed Nolls pit area. Noll continues to throw up top 5 finishes weekly and it’s allowed him to open up a 77 point lead over Luke Nieman.

Just like in the Stock Cars, look for some more different drivers to show up and run in the B Mod class. Sixty six different drivers have done battle at Lakeside Speedway in 2015.

Chase Austin #111, Eudora, KS.

Wow! We have seen some dominating performances this season and a few good streaks. Right now the racer on the roll is Chase Austin. Austin heads into this Friday night having won the last 2 features in the B Mods. Austin is a talented racers, but he is finally putting it together and showing it to the fans. In the tough, competitive world of B Mod racing Austin has been the man for 2 straight weeks. Can he follow it up and pick up the Trifecta? We will find out this Friday night. This pressure makes Austin the driver to watch this week!!!
