The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to Lakeside Speedway this week as O’Reilly Auto Parts Presents the Outlaws at Lakeside on Wednesday, July 1. The event will mark the series only visit of the season to the Kanas City area and is a rescheduled events from a race that was postponed by inclement weather last month.

This past week, Brad Sweet was victorious in Michigan to snap six-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz’s five-race win streak. For Sweet, it was his third win of the season and first since April. In Wisconsin on June 27, Schatz picked up the win in the 6th Annual Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial, which was his 17th win of the year. Four different drivers took turns leading including Kerry Madsen, Shane Stewart and Daryn Pittman before Schatz took the top spot on lap 34 of the 40-lap contest.

In the series standings, Schatz holds a 200-plus point lead over Shane Stewart as the season nears the halfway point. Kerry Madsen is currently third in points, with Sweet fourth and Joey Saldana fifth. The remainder of the top-10 is Paul McMahan, Daryn Pittman, Jason Sides, David Gravel and Kraig Kinser.
