Tom Karrick was a very successful racer in the Midwest competing at Lakeside Speedway, Riverside Stadium, Topeka race tracks, and I-70 Speedway to name a few. Year to year, fans knew that any time Karrick rolled into a track he would be considered a threat to win. Karrick was not only just a threat to win, but he was a driver that was well respected by his peers and he was the patriarch of the family that would be involved in local racing to this day.
After his death the Karrick family started the Tom Karrick Memorial Race. The family works to obtain additional sponsors, works as a community group to earn extra money and then adds the money to the purse for this memorial race. With the added purse from the track and the funds collected by the Karrick family, this race has become a $2.000 to win, $1,200 for second, $1,000 for third and $175 to start feature race.
