Kansas City, KS – June 2, 2013 – Aaron Marrant started out the evening with his first notch in the win column by showing patience in the USRA A-Modified division. The Orrick, MO driver needed 23 of 25 laps to work his way up to early race leader Bubba Harvey before being able to successfully challenge for the lead. Harvey’s car appeared to be fading as the race progressed and with one small push in turn four Marrant was able to motor around him to victory lane. Mark Shafman started eighth and raced to a third place finish behind Harvey. Kerry Davis and Chris Spieker rounded out the top-five.
Gardner, KS’s Marshall Jewett found the fast line in the Grand National feature as he was able to best the field in their 12-lap feature. Jewett, who has feature wins in both the Grand National and Factory Stock divisions, needed only two laps to go from his third place starting spot to the lead. Gary Donaldson and current point leader, Tim Shields, battled for second and third place while Steve Dibben and Donnie Brown rounded out the top-five.
The ultra-competitive USRA B-Modified division found defending champion Nick Newton in victory lane. The second-generation driver, from KC, KS, had a clean sweep of a night as he won his heat and feature, his first of the season. Steve Goodman gave chase the entire race but could never muster the speed to get around Newton and would settle for second ahead of a hard charging Chad Feather, who started sixth. Rounding out the top five was Kevin Sloan and last week’s winner, Aaron Marrant.
The Factory Stocks once again put on one of the best shows of the night as defending champion, Justin Seifert, held off all challengers in the 15-lap feature. Early challenger, Brett Heeter, numerous times was able to pull alongside Seifert, proving to be a strong contender until a flat right-front tire took him out of contention. Darrin Christy and point leader, Nate Barnes, battled for second and third while Anthony Whitham, who started 11th, and Scotty Moore, who started 10th, rounded out the top-five
